WHAT’S MISSING?

What’s missing in Africa that makes life so difficult?  Is it the politics and governance? Is it the  corruption and misuse of public funds? Is it the poverty and hunger? Is it about the lack of any number of things: respect for human rights, basic civil liberties, independent institutions, development and infrastructure, healthcare, private land ownership, clean water, education, jobs,  and economic opportunity; or, is it about ethnic divisions, ethnic favoritism, ethnic-based grievances and serious social problems like human trafficking, the outflow of refugees, the homeless and orphans, or the warnings given regarding the overall threat to the stability of the country due to rising discontent?  Whatever it is, let’s talk about it with accuracy and depth so we can better understand the problem and what we can do about it.
